Winemaking - Our Philosophy

In nature, as well as medicine, it is a well known principal that a gene, either in a grape or a person, is conditioned by the environment, either terroir or parent. Terroir is a French word meaning the total impact of a site; the weather, soil, slope and temperatures working together to bring Grape Clustersout the best in the grapes. The fertile volcanic soil and the perfectly positioned southeast location of our vineyards enable us to achieve optimum results from our grapes. (Soil & Terroir)

Pinot Noir is a delicate chameleon and has been described as the silk of all wines. Our philosophy is to produce a wine with variations of bouquets/aroma’s, tastes and consistencies that has the ability to enhance our enjoyment of food. Quailhurst Vineyard Estate has chosen to focus on producing a Pinot Noir that is well balanced and lush; a wine to satisfy the most discriminating of palettes.

This passion for the land and the vineyard is shared by Matt Novak and his team at Results Partners, who manage our viticulture, and Joe Dobbes, Oregon Winemaker. Joe’s ability to balance the power traits in wine, while not overpowering the elegance of the fruits will continue to create premium wines for Quailhurst Vineyard Estate.
